The Educational and Psychological Guidance Unit at the College of Law at Al-Qadisiyah University held a scientific symposium entitled “Indicators of Social Media and Their Impact on Society.” Presented by Asst. Dr. Laila Hamza Radhi and Asst. M. Zahraa Mohammed Hadi, the symposium aimed to introduce social media and its impact on individuals and society, as it has become a fundamental means of driving most daily life activities. The symposium concluded that social media has a significant impact, which can be either negative or positive, as its impact depends on the manner in which it is used. The symposium recommended the need to activate the oversight role of social media by enacting a law regulating its use, as well as activating the government’s role in reducing the spread of crime through social media. It also recommended holding educational seminars to raise awareness about the optimal use of these media and highlight their dangers.
