The Department of Internal Affairs at Al-Qadisiyah University holds an educational seminar on the importance of early periodic screening for cancer.

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and the supervision of the Director of the Department of Internal Affairs, Professor Dr. Ahmed Fahim Nagish Al-Zamili, the Department’s Women’s Affairs Unit held an educational seminar at the female dormitory complex entitled “The Importance of Early Periodic Screening for Cancerous Diseases.” Dr. Marwa Al-Yasiri, a general surgery specialist and head of the Breast Cancer Early Detection Center at Al-Diwaniyah Teaching Hospital, lectured. The seminar addressed the factors contributing to breast cancer, its associated symptoms, and how women can self-examine, in addition to clinical and periodic examinations. She also highlighted the importance of preventing the disease by maintaining an age-appropriate weight, exercising, and consuming healthy foods, such as fruits and vegetables. Avoiding long-term treatments such as contraceptives after the age of 35, avoiding additional hormones after menopause, and avoiding smoking. Treatment includes surgical intervention, chemotherapy, deep radiation, and hormone therapy, depending on the progression of the condition and its symptoms.
