The Women’s Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Educational and Psychological Counseling Unit and the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit at the College of Law at Al-Qadisiyah University, held a scientific workshop entitled “Challenges and Legal Solutions to Ensure Women’s Rights in the Workplace.” Presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sundus Muhammad Abbas and Asst. Dr. Laila Hamza, the workshop aimed to discuss the legal and social challenges to ensuring women’s rights in the workplace, review local and international legal frameworks, and propose solutions to promote equality and combat discrimination. The workshop concluded that women’s participation in the private sector labor market is low (11%) due to social norms and legal restrictions, as well as discrimination in wages and promotions, harassment in the workplace, a lack of awareness of legal rights, and weak enforcement mechanisms.
