The College of Veterinary Medicine at Al-Qadisiyah University completes a scientific course on local vaccine production.

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Rahi Kalf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Munir Abdul Amir Abdul Fatlawi, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Department of Internal and Preventive Medicine at the college held a training course entitled “Local Vaccine Production.” Assistant Professor Dr. Muthanna Hadi Hussein lectured. The course aimed to highlight the importance of local vaccines in many aspects, including the economic and medical aspects. The course reached several conclusions, including that reliance on imported vaccines is one of the reasons for the loss of control over epidemics, as recently happened with foot-and-mouth disease. It also highlighted the necessity of manufacturing vaccines locally, which would increase vaccine efficiency because they would contain the local strain. Relying on local vaccines also provides many job opportunities while preserving hard currency.
