The Department of Chemical Engineering at the College of Engineering at Al-Qadisiyah University organized a training course entitled “Real Estate Tax” in the Continuing Education Unit Hall. The course was attended by Asst. Abdul Amir Zamil Latif and Asst. Asaad Sa’sa’ Akrab. The course aimed to familiarize students with the law and regulations governing real estate tax in Iraq. The course also included an explanation of how real estate tax is imposed on property owners and the exemptions they are entitled to under the law. Real estate tax is a proportional tax, as it is estimated and collected at a rate of 10% of the annual income of all properties, including the owner’s share of the property. A further 10% (ten percent) of the annual income of each property is deducted from maintenance and depreciation expenses before calculating the real estate tax.
