The College of Veterinary Medicine at Al-Qadisiyah University completes a training course on radiation protection and radioactive materials in the laboratory.

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Rahi Kalf Al-Yasiri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Munir Abdul Amir Abdul Fatlawi, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Department of Microbiology at the college held a scientific training course entitled “Protection from Radiation and Radioactive Materials in the Laboratory.” Lectured by Asst. Prof. Kholoud Hamdan Fahd, Asst. Azhar Abdul Sada Ne’ma, and Asst. Prof. Jinan Nazim Sadiq, the course aimed to identify the seriousness of protection from radiation and radioactive materials in scientific laboratories. The course also covered the concept of radiation protection, which is the science of protecting humans from the effects of ionizing radiation, whether elementary particles such as protons and neutrons or high-energy electromagnetic radiation such as X-rays and gamma rays. The results of this science, which combines physics and medicine, have resulted in internationally agreed-upon instructions and recommendations, which each country incorporates into its laws for the purpose of radiation protection.
