The College of Administration and Economics, in cooperation with the coordinators of the Al-Kafeel Youth National Project at Al-Qadisiyah University, held a scientific and cultural symposium entitled “Cultural Identity: Between Its Importance and the Danger of Its Disappearance.” The symposium was moderated by Professor Hussein Aziz Al-Dulaimi and lectured by Professor Jassam Al-Saeedi. The symposium aimed to highlight the importance of adhering to cultural identity as a compass that guides generations. The lecturer began his talk with a question from The Washington Post, addressed to His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sistani in 2003: “What is the greatest danger and threat to Iraq’s future?” The answer was: “The danger of obliterating its cultural identity, one of the most important pillars of which is the true Islamic religion.” This answer was perhaps unexpected by the newspaper; it foresaw a future that was uncertain and unknown to many people. Modern means of communication were not available in the country as they are now. This danger only became apparent after 2015 and beyond.
