Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Jubouri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Munir Abdul Amir Abdul Fatlawi, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Department of Microbiology held a discussion session on the effectiveness of silver nanoparticles on the Leishmania parasite. Professor Dr. Ghaida Abbas Jassim lectured. The session aimed to understand the effect of nanoparticles from various extracts on the Leishmania parasite. The session also included an explanation of the preparation of silver nanoparticles from two types of biological sources: bacteria and plants (turmeric), and a comparison with the treatment of Pentostam. The session recommended that these nanoparticles could be used to treat cutaneous leishmaniasis instead of chemotherapy.
