The Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering at the College of Engineering at Al-Qadisiyah University, in collaboration with the Intelligence Agency’s Department of Technology and Informatics in Diwaniya and the Community Police, organized a seminar titled “Cyber Extortion Crimes: Risks and Prevention Methods” in the postgraduate discussion hall. The seminar featured presentations by Legal Major Abbas Bardhan Al-Barqawi and First Lieutenant Engineer Muhammad Khidr Abdulhamza, along with Ali Muhammad Jamil Kasad.
The seminar aimed to clarify the concept of cyber extortion and highlight its various types, while discussing its negative impacts on individuals and society. The seminar also reviewed the methods of extortion used by extortionists and how they exploit modern technology to achieve their illicit goals.
The seminar focused on ways to prevent these crimes by providing practical advice for protecting personal information and electronic accounts, as well as encouraging attendees to report any extortion cases immediately through the designated official channels.
