The Educational and Psychological Supervision Unit at the College of Law at Al-Qadisiyah University held a scientific symposium entitled “Measures to Combat Electronic Harassment” as part of the University Mornings activities. Assistant Professor Laila Hamza Radhi lectured at the symposium. The symposium aimed to raise awareness about the issue of electronic harassment and its negative effects on society and families. It also aimed to empower female students to learn how to protect themselves from it, as well as to enhance their self-confidence to build a safe and independent future. The symposium recommended raising awareness among individuals, families, and society about the dangers of harassment via social media, which has become an integral part of daily life. This can be achieved by holding educational seminars that highlight the seriousness of this phenomenon and its effects on the victim’s psyche, as well as on their professional and academic lives. The symposium also highlighted the penalties that can be imposed on harassers, the methods for initiating criminal proceedings, and the competent authorities to receive cases. This would serve as a deterrent to anyone who might dare to harass.
