The Department of Communication and Electronics Engineering at the College of Engineering at Al-Qadisiyah University organized a scientific course titled (Optical Sensors) in the Continuing Education Unit, presented by Dr. Mazhar Hamid Mazhar Al-Hiyawi. The course aimed to familiarize participants with how to manufacture optical sensors using optical fiber. It demonstrated that by polishing one side of the optical fiber using a locally made polishing machine, the shape of the fiber changes from circular to a D shape, and the innovative sensor can be employed in electrical transformers to measure the water content in insulating oils. The sensor has proven to be highly efficient in detection.
