The College of Medicine at Al-Qadisiyah University holds an awareness seminar on the causes of drug addiction.

The Educational Guidance and Psychological Services Unit held an awareness-raising seminar entitled “The Causes of Drug Addiction, Its Main Types, and How to Prevent Them.” Presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sahar Abdul-Ilah Al-Birmani, Asst. Prof. Dr. Firas Abdul-Khaleq Mandeel Al-Ghanimi, Legal Advisor Hashem Mohammed Awad Al-Rahimi, and Psychological Researcher Majid Kazim An’ad Al-Shabli, the seminar aimed to clarify the main causes of drug addiction, its main types, and how to prevent them. The seminar revealed that the percentage of drug users is constantly increasing, and that the problem is worsening due to the lack of awareness and social cooperation at the necessary levels. Many citizens still feel that this phenomenon is distant from them and is limited to uneducated groups or broken families. The seminar recommended the need to commit to the responsibility of raising awareness about the types and harms of drugs and their spread. Combating this dangerous phenomenon requires the cooperation of all segments of society to raise awareness, rather than relying solely on the efforts of relevant authorities.
