The Women’s Affairs Unit, in collaboration with the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit at the College of Law at Al-Qadisiyyah University, held a scientific workshop titled “Empowering Women in Peacebuilding: Implementing Resolution 1325 to Enhance Security and Stability,” presented by Dr. Leila Hamza Rady and managed by Assistant Professor Dr. Sundus Mohamed Abbas.

The workshop aimed to enhance the role of women as a key element in peacebuilding processes by highlighting the importance of their participation in conflict resolution and building stable communities. It sought to provide a platform for discussing the challenges women face in this area, such as marginalization or lack of resources, and to find practical solutions to empower them, focusing on enhancing security and stability as a direct result of their participation.

The workshop concluded that involving women in peacebuilding is not just an option but a strategic necessity for achieving sustainable outcomes. Global experiences have shown that women possess unique capabilities in mediation, negotiation, and conflict resolution in peaceful ways.

The workshop recommended the activation of Resolution 1325 issued by the United Nations Security Council in 2000, which is the first international resolution focusing on the role of women in peace and security.
