Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kadhim Jabr Al-Jubouri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Archaeology, Assistant Professor Dr. Rajwan Faisal Al-Mayali, the College of Archaeology held a scientific symposium entitled “The Traveling Exhibition of the Iraqi Maritime Cultural Heritage: Connections between Antiquities and Folklore.” Presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Aqeel Abdul and Dr. Muntadhar Hassan Al-Hasani, the symposium aimed to introduce Iraqi maritime heritage and establish a scientific and cultural approach to this ancient legacy by exploring the links between antiquities and folklore. It is a scientific exhibition presenting an artistic and visual vision, based on traditional folklore research to develop an academic research methodology based on oral tradition and field collection. The exhibition consists of real-life and miniature models depicting traditional boats and vessels such as the kaffa, the ashari balam, the muhayla, the mashhaif, and the Abbasid gondola, providing a visual experience documenting this unique maritime heritage.
