Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kadhim Jabr Al-Jubouri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Salwan Ali Al-Hamzawi, the College of Science held a scientific course entitled (Preparing Some Culture Media Used for Growing Green and Blue-Green Algae in a Sustainable Way). The course was presented by Asst. Dr. Haider Ammar Al-Obaidi and Asst. Dr. Ali Hamid Al-Badri. The course aimed to explain how to prepare BG 11 Medium Modified and Chu 1 Medium in a sustainable manner. The course covered the following topics: the concept of culture media used in algae, the benefits of using them, the types of solid and liquid media, the media components such as macro- and micronutrients, and the materials used. The course also covered the best methods for laboratory sterilization of culture media and its tools. The preferred and sustainable method for preparing BG 11 Medium Modified and Chu 1 Medium, how to avoid contamination, the correct path for algal growth in the medium, and which types of media do algae prefer for growth.
