Under the sponsorship of Professor Dr. Kazem Jabir Al-Jubouri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Munir Abdul Amir Abdul Fattah Al-Fatlawi, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Microbiology Department held a scientific course on the principles of antibiotic resistance. The course was presented by Dr. Shajoun Hassan Jadaan and Assistant Lecturer Sabreen Nuri Daqman.
The course aimed to introduce antibiotic resistance and how it has created a crisis at the global health level. It included a brief overview of the mechanisms of bacterial resistance to antibiotics and the evolution of bacterial strains resistant to many antibiotics. One of the reasons for the increased resistance of bacteria to antibiotics is the inappropriate use of antibiotics in the healthcare and veterinary sectors.
