The Department of Medical Physics at the College of Science at Al-Qadisah University held a training course entitled PET Scan and SPECT Scan methods used in Medical Imaging. The course was attended by M.M. Karar Mahdi Badi and M.M. Haider Muhammad Hadi. The course aimed to explain the PET Scan and SPECT Scan techniques used in medical imaging and compare them, explain the process of injecting radioactive material into the patient’s body and the interactions that occur inside the body between the positron and the electron. The course also addressed the integration technique in imaging such as PET/CT, PET/MRI and SPECT/CT. The course recommended the necessity of using the integration techniques PET/MRI and SPECT/CT because they provide accurate and ideal images of the target organ in imaging.
