The Department of Private Law at the College of Law at Al-Qadisiyah University held a scientific symposium entitled (Legal and Ethical Challenges of Artificial Intelligence) presented by Prof. Dr. Abdul Mahdi Kazim Nasser, Asst. Prof. Dr. Huda Saadoun Lafta, and Prof. Dr. Iqbal Nayef Mubdar

The symposium aimed to show that as a result of the tremendous development in the current era, it resulted in the invention of machines that operate with artificial intelligence that can act on their own to accomplish what they were designed for in order to assist humans in their work

The most important conclusions are that the traditional rules in the theory of obligation are unable to confront the damages arising from artificial intelligence operators, which requires intervention from the legislator to fill the current legislative gap

The most important recommendations are that the application of the rules of objective liability based on damage is what seems appropriate to compensate for the damages of artificial intelligence, but these rules need to be modified by making them more flexible to be able to accommodate the nature of artificial intelligence, its characteristics, and the behaviors it takes
