The Educational and Psychological Guidance Unit at the College of Medicine at Al-Qadisiyah University held a scientific symposium entitled (Combating Human Trafficking), in which Asst. Prof. Dr. Sahar Abdel-Ilah
The seminar aimed to identify this dangerous phenomenon, its causes and dangers. The seminar showed the need to increase society’s awareness of this phenomenon to combat it effectively, as Iraqi law prohibits this phenomenon and punishes it. It may take place under a legal framework, such as marrying females to people residing abroad or luring young women with forged employment contracts and other devious methods.
The seminar recommended the need to educate families and women in particular about the existence of this real danger and to inform the competent authorities in the event that suspicious parties are identified as being involved in such criminal activities.
