The Educational and Psychological Guidance Unit at the College of Medicine, Al-Qadisiyah University, held a guidance seminar entitled (Combating Fake News and Rumors) at Al-Diwaniyah Teaching Hospital, in which Asst. Prof. Dr. Sahar Abdul-Ilah Hussein lectured. The seminar aimed to identify the dangers of the phenomenon of fake news and rumors due to the instability they cause within societies and the increase in problems and division between members of the same society. The seminar indicated the increase in this phenomenon in the recent period due to the spread of reliance on social networking sites to follow political and social news and because they are public platforms and their sources may not be reliable, as it is possible for any person or any party to create a website and start publishing content that matches personal agendas whose goals may be to harm the unity of society and spread confusion. The seminar recommended that students pay attention to this phenomenon and the possibility that the news that is spreading may be incorrect and the necessity of investigating sites known for the reliability of their news to know the correct news and spread this awareness as much as possible
