The Educational and Psychological Supervision Unit at the College of Law at Al-Qadisiyah University held a scientific seminar titled “Combating Human Trafficking,” which was moderated by Assistant Lecturer Abdullah Jabar Khashan and featured Dr. Ali Hamza Jabr as a speaker.
The seminar aimed to review the dangers of human trafficking crimes, which have effects that extend beyond the borders of the state where they are committed and impact the entire international community. This has prompted countries to unify their efforts in enacting international agreements and incorporating the requirements for combating human trafficking into their domestic legislation. One such piece of legislation is the Iraqi legislator’s enactment of the Anti-Human Trafficking Law No. (28) of 2012, which represents Iraq’s response to combating this type of crime.
The seminar concluded that combating human trafficking is one of the most important duties of the state in maintaining human security and the psychological and physical safety of individuals. It also determined that combating human trafficking must occur within a formal legislative framework and benefit from all national and international efforts to address the risks of these crimes.
The seminar recommended the necessity of focusing on the quality of legislation governing the fight against human trafficking and ensuring it aligns with modern trends in this field. It also recommended increasing awareness and legal education for individuals to recognize the risks of these crimes and enhance preventive measures to confront them.
