Under the sponsorship of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kazem Jaber Al-Jubouri, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Aqeel Rahim Al-Barqawi, the Department of Anatomy at the College of Medicine at Al-Qadisiyah University held a two-day training course on the detection of genetic and acquired immune deficiency diseases using the ELISA technique.

The course was presented by:
Dr. Noura Majid Kazem
Dr. Hala Mohsen Matar
Dr. Abbas Ghafal

In the presence of a group of professors and staff, as well as a group of students in the biology laboratory at the College of Medicine.

The course covered:
Modern laboratory methods used in diagnosing genetic and acquired immune deficiency diseases, represented by ELISA devices, also known as (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay), which is a biochemical test that relies on the use of antibodies and color change to detect the presence of antibodies to the HIV virus in cases of acquired immune deficiency and specific T-cell antigens (CD4+) in cases of genetic immune deficiency, in addition to complement tests.

The course aimed:
To train researchers on the most important methods used in diagnosing immune deficiency diseases and to differentiate between the tests used in diagnosing genetic immune deficiency diseases and those used in diagnosing acquired immune deficiency diseases. It also aimed to identify the most important methods to avoid false positive or false negative results, ensuring the accuracy of the results, in addition to informing them about the impact of immune deficiency on white blood cell counts, especially the concentrations of lymphocytes and mononuclear cells.

The course recommended:
The need to introduce modern technologies in hospitals and health centers due to their high accuracy in diagnosing diseases. The course also emphasized the necessity of training laboratory personnel on ELISA devices instead of using cassettes in immunological analyses, which positively affects the accuracy of the work.
