Based on the directives of the Women’s Affairs Department issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kazem Jaber Al-Jubouri, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Bashir Shakir Al-Awadi, the Women’s Empowerment Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Science organized an educational seminar titled “Electronic Blackmail: Its Concept, Causes, and Prevention Methods,” presented by Dr. Khawla Saleh Sayhood.
The seminar included a definition of electronic blackmail, which is considered one of the cybercrimes that have become prevalent in the digital age. It involves the use of threats or psychological pressure by the blackmailer to force the victim to provide money, information, or perform certain actions, using private or sensitive information obtained through hacking devices, eavesdropping, or emotional manipulation.
The seminar recommended enhancing digital awareness: understanding how to use the Internet safely and using strong passwords.
