The Laboratory Containment Committee for the Polio Virus held its meeting chaired by the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Star Abdul Hassan Al-Fatlawi, with the membership of the head of the Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Safety and Security Division, Professor Dr. Mai Jalil Abdul, Professor Dr. Ziad Mutab Fajja, and other committee members.
This meeting comes to fulfill the committee’s tasks periodically and annually after completing the investigation processes and ensuring that all relevant university laboratories are free from any biological samples that are fragmented, contaminated, or potentially contaminated with the polio virus, and to update the data sent to the Ministry of Health, as the issue is of significant importance at the national and community levels.
The committee recommended the necessity of continuing to monitor all university laboratories through conducting field and periodic visits to enable the university to meet the requirements of the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.
