Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Jubouri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Archaeology, Assistant Professor Dr. Rajwan Faisal Al-Miyali, the Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit at the College of Archaeology held a scientific workshop entitled “Disaster and Crisis Management and Risk Reduction,” presented by Dr. Waseem Abdul Amir Wahib Al-Hassanawi.
The workshop addressed the definition of crises and disasters, outlining their types and economic and social impacts. It also clarified the reflection of disasters on the environment and the optimal ways to face and manage them effectively, emphasizing the importance of developing alternative plans to deal with crises and reduce risks.
The main recommendations included the necessity of providing the necessary information to reduce disaster risks and developing emergency contingency plans. The workshop also stressed the importance of forming a specialized and trained team for immediate intervention in the event of disasters, along with establishing a forecasting center responsible for disaster management and minimizing its impacts.
