Under the sponsorship of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Habbouri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Ali Hassan Ali Murad, the Continuous Education Unit at the College of Dentistry held a training course entitled (Antibiotic Resistance of Bacteria and Fungi), presented by Dr. Ali Sabri and Ms. Ruqaya Hussein Abdul Muhammad.
The course aimed to demonstrate the uses of medications for the prevention and treatment of bacterial and fungal infection, as well as to explain the resistance mechanism acquired by certain types of bacteria that make them resistant to antibiotics.
The course recommended against the misuse and overconsumption of antibiotics without consulting a doctor or obtaining a prescription, which leads to the emergence of antibiotic resistance more rapidly, and emphasized that individuals should never share leftover antibiotics or use them, as this undermines the effectiveness of current antibiotics in treating bacterial infections.
