Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Jubouri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Ali Hassan Ali Murad, the Women’s Affairs Unit, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Dentistry, held an awareness workshop titled “The Legal Effects of Drugs.” The workshop featured presentations by Assistant Lecturer Noor Jalawi Jabbar and Assistant Professor Bidaya Saleh.
The workshop aimed to identify the penalties imposed for drug-related crimes (possession, use, trafficking), in addition to studying the impact of penalties on addicts and discussing the role of education and legal awareness in reducing the phenomenon of addiction (the legal effects of drugs) among addicts based on their health and social conditions.
The workshop recommended the necessity of reviewing laws to make them more comprehensive, combining deterrence and treatment, tightening penalties on drug traffickers and criminal organizations, and giving judges flexibility in sentencing addicts based on their health and social conditions.
