The Public Law Department at the College of Law at Al-Qadisiyah University organized a scientific seminar titled “The Authority of the Administration in Addressing Water Waste,” presented by Prof. Dr. Ali Najib Hamza and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Walid Hasan Hamid. The seminar aimed to highlight the entities responsible for addressing water waste, as well as the legal means to rationalize the consumption of water resources in some countries, including Iraq.
The seminar concluded that filling the legislative gap regarding water management in Iraq requires the legislative authority to undertake the task of regulating it and specifying its means from both organizational and supervisory perspectives, in addition to identifying a competent administrative body to address waste and determining a court to handle disputes arising from this issue.
The seminar recommended the necessity of consolidating legal texts into a single law, as well as activating the role of environmental media and environmental awareness by state institutions, relevant entities, and civil society organizations to raise individual awareness of the importance of conserving water.
