Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kazem Jabir Al-Jubouri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Biological Technologies, Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdul Wahab Al-Iraqi, the College of Biological Technologies organized a seminar titled “The Role of Genetic Mutations in the Occurrence of Certain Diseases,” presented by Assistant Lecturer Israa Alawi Laibi.<\/p>\n
The seminar included an introduction to the meaning of genetic mutations and the changes in DNA sequences that can affect gene function and lead to the formation of non-functional proteins. Genetic mutations play an important role in the occurrence of diseases, including genetic mutations such as point mutations, which involve changes in a single DNA base, such as substitution, deletion, or addition.<\/p>\n
The seminar recommended enhancing public awareness of how genetic mutations affect health, as well as encouraging genetic testing for individuals at risk of certain conditions, which helps in the early detection of genetic diseases.
