Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Jubouri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Ali Hassan Ali Murad, the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Dentistry held a workshop titled “Cosmetic Fillings.” The workshop featured presentations by dentists Hawra Kareem, Rahab Qusay, Adhraa Shakir, and Fatima Mohammed.

The workshop aimed to restore the shape and function of damaged teeth in an aesthetic and natural manner. These fillings are typically used in cases of cavity repair, covering the gaps resulting from the removal of decay, preventing the spread of damage to adjacent teeth, and demonstrating how to improve appearance by modifying the shape of teeth or closing gaps between them, as well as repairing fractures or erosion in cases where the tooth is broken or worn.

The workshop recommended the necessity of choosing a professional and experienced specialist in cosmetic fillings to ensure the best results, maintaining regular dental hygiene using a toothbrush and toothpaste containing fluoride, and using dental floss to clean between teeth, with a preference for water flossers for their ability to reach areas that regular floss cannot. It also advised avoiding hard foods by steering clear of breaking ice cubes or chewing on hard objects, as this could cause the filling to break.
