The Psychological Guidance and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Engineering at Al-Qadisiyah University organized an awareness seminar titled “The Plague of Drugs and Their Effects on Individuals and Society” as part of the awareness campaign for the Iraqi Week for Combating Drugs in the Continuing Education Unit hall, presented by Dr. Khalood Abbas Hussein.<\/p>\n
The seminar aimed to highlight the dangers of drug proliferation in society and its negative impacts on public health and social security, in addition to reviewing the best legal and awareness methods to combat this phenomenon and to instill awareness of security and safety issues, contributing to building a drug-free community.<\/p>\n
The seminar also included an introduction to the types and forms of drugs that may be circulated and their level of danger, as well as the harms caused by these drugs from health, psychological, social, and economic perspectives, and how they target different age groups, especially university students. It emphasized the necessity of educating individuals about the health, social, and economic harms of drugs through educational and awareness programs, incorporating the effects of drugs into educational curricula to raise awareness among the new generation about their dangers, and treating addicts as patients in need of treatment rather than viewing them as criminals. It also highlighted the importance of providing psychiatric hospitals and vocational training centers to assist in rehabilitation and reintegration into society, as well as organizing periodic conferences and seminars to discuss the drug problem and present effective solutions to reduce its spread.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
