Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kazem Jaber Al-Jubouri, and supervised by the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdul Wahab Al-Iraqi, the College of Science conducted a seminar titled “Radiation and Its Impact on Public Health: A Possible Major Cause of Cancer,” presented by Assistant Lecturer Sara Ali Abdul Hussein.<\/p>\n
The seminar aimed to define radiation, its types, and its positive and negative effects on individuals, as well as its effective role in medical applications such as radiation therapy and as a source of energy, considering it a clean and environmentally friendly energy source. On the negative side, radiation is considered one of the risk factors for cancer due to its significant role in causing damage to living cells in general and breaking or causing mutations in DNA strands.<\/p>\n
The seminar recommended avoiding close proximity to radioactive devices or materials unless necessary, reducing the duration of exposure to radiation, using protective barriers, wearing designated protective clothing, and maintaining a healthy diet rich in antioxidants, such as fruits and vegetables, as they can reduce the harmful effects of radiation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
