The Department of Chemical Engineering at the College of Engineering at Al-Qadisiyah University organized, as part of the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, a scientific symposium entitled (Methods of Producing Combustible Polymers) in the Postgraduate Discussion Hall, in which Prof. Dr. Ali Khadir Jabbar Al-Hamzawi lectured. The symposium aimed to identify the methods of producing polymeric materials and composite materials that are resistant to combustion using inhibitors in order to protect human life and personal and public property from the dangers of fire. The symposium reviewed a historical overview of combustible polymers, the different types of chemical compounds used to inhibit the combustion process, and methods of adding inhibitors to polymers, which included the physical mixing method and the method of adding to the polymer chain by performing a chemical reaction.
