Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Prof. Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Jubouri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Wahhab Al-Askari, the Department of Chemistry held a training course entitled (Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry: Basics and Advanced Applications) presented by Dr. Luay Ali Khalil and Dr. Ban Adnan Hatem. The course aimed to enhance the skills of researchers and students in using modern analytical techniques in a way that contributes to the development of scientific research and its practical applications. The course provided a detailed explanation of the principles of gas chromatography combined with mass spectrometry (GC-MSD), in addition to reviewing the practical applications of this technology in various fields such as environmental analysis, pharmaceutical forensics, food security and other applications. It also addressed the definition of the technology, explaining the mechanism of operation of the GC-MSD device and its most important components, as well as practical applications and presenting the uses of the technology in the analysis of volatile and low-volatile organic compounds.
