The Materials Engineering Department at the College of Engineering at Al-Qadisiyah University held a scientific workshop titled “Failure of Engineering Materials Due to Fatigue” in the Continuous Education Unit, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdul Razzaq.<\/p>\n
The workshop aimed to educate attendees and fourth-year students about fatigue, its causes, and how to prevent it by following engineering methods.<\/p>\n
The workshop clarified that in materials science, fatigue refers to the “wear” that occurs in engineering materials, which begins with the propagation of cracks in a material for several reasons, including excessive cyclic loading at a specific point, rust, incorrect sample composition, high temperatures, forming processes, material structure, and incorrect material selection. The failure and collapse of a material due to crack growth can be divided into two types: sudden failure or slow failure, which leads to costly economic consequences manifested in production disruption.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
