The thesis, titled “A Study of Pollution Caused by Illegal Waste Dumps in Al-Diwaniyah Governorate, Iraq,” was conducted by researcher Ghadeer Jamal under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Kadhim Khwain within the Department of Environmental Sciences at the College of Science, University of Al-Qadisiyah.<\/p>\n

The results revealed significant variations in pollutant concentrations across different sites and measurement points; levels of suspended particles (PM\u2082.\u2085 and PM\u2081\u2080), carbon dioxide (CO\u2082), total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), and formaldehyde (HCHO) varied depending on site activity, waste burning conditions, and meteorological factors. Soil analysis results also revealed variations in the concentrations of heavy metals\u2014including lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), and copper (Cu)\u2014across different locations and soil depths.<\/p>\n

Based on these findings, the study recommended curbing illegal waste dumping, managing waste disposal sites in an environmentally sound manner, and prohibiting the open burning of waste. It also called for the implementation of periodic monitoring programs for air, soil, and water quality in areas near waste accumulation sites, as well as the adoption of necessary measures to limit the migration of pollutants and protect both the environment and public health.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
