The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering, Al-Qadisiyah University, discussed a Master’s thesis entitled “Optimization of Hot Press Forming for Origami Structures” by researcher Murtadha Wahab Hamid, supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Hussam Karim Mohsen. The research aimed to study the effect of heat pressing parameters on the mechanical properties of origami structures in order to select the optimal parameters. The geometric parameters of the Miura-Uri pattern were chosen based on a numerical study conducted within this research. The results showed that the selected model, Model A of the Miura-Uri pattern, possesses superior mechanical properties compared to other models, with projected dimensions of (25 \u00d7 40) mm. For the designed mold, the safety factor was 3. The experimental study revealed that Miura-ori sheets exhibited high elasticity in the Y direction and high stiffness in the X direction for the tensile strength samples.<\/p>\n
Statistical analysis of the experimental results showed that all three factors are critical processing parameters affecting structural strength, except for compression. Temperature had the greatest impact, followed by fixation time, and then pressure, according to the order of Taguchi’s response analysis. The combination of hot pressing parameters to achieve optimal tensile and compressive strength in both the X and Y directions was: 100\u00b0C, 2 MPa pressure, and 15 minutes of fixation time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
