The Educational and Psychological Guidance Unit at the College of Law, Al-Qadisiyah University, held a scientific seminar entitled “The Impact of Bullying Among University Students.” The seminar featured presentations by Assistant Professor Dr. Layla Hamza Radhi, Dr. Hiba Abdul-Amir Hamid, and student Hussein Ahmed Jabbar. The seminar aimed to define the concept of university bullying and its various forms (verbal, psychological, social, and cyberbullying), while also explaining the reasons for its prevalence among university students and the associated psychological, social, and academic factors. The study also highlights the negative effects of bullying on students’ mental health, academic achievement, and social stability on campus. It emphasizes the importance of raising awareness among students and faculty about the seriousness of bullying and the need to address it, while promoting a culture of mutual respect, tolerance, and dialogue within the university environment.<\/p>\n
Key findings indicate that bullying exists in universities, although less prevalent than in other educational settings. However, it is more complex and has a greater psychological impact. Bullying is not limited to verbal abuse but extends to social isolation, cyberbullying, and ridicule of identity, appearance, or academic standing. Key recommendations include the importance of implementing regular awareness programs within universities about bullying, its effects, and ways to combat it. A clear university code of conduct should be established that criminalizes bullying and specifies appropriate penalties. Faculty and administrative staff should be trained to identify and professionally address bullying cases. Finally, student activities that promote cooperation, respect, and acceptance of others should be encouraged, and the role of university media in disseminating a culture of anti-bullying should be activated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
