The Human Rights Unit at the College of Engineering, Al-Qadisiyah University, in cooperation with the Anti-Narcotics Office in Diwaniyah, held an awareness seminar entitled “The Impact of Drugs on the Academic Performance of University Students.” This seminar was part of the college’s ongoing efforts to promote health and social awareness among its students. The seminar was presented by Ms. Nadia Kadhim Awad and Major Hassan Mahmoud Shaker from the Anti-Narcotics Office in Diwaniyah.<\/p>\n

The seminar aimed to clarify the serious dangers of drug use on students’ academic futures and their mental and physical health. The seminar also addressed academic and psychological aspects, highlighting how addiction affects cognitive brain functions such as concentration, memory, and analytical ability, directly leading to a decline in academic performance and failure.<\/p>\n

On the sidelines of the seminar, the Human Rights Unit conducted an awareness campaign that included distributing posters about the dangers and harms of drugs to individuals and society throughout the college’s corridors and main halls, and distributing informational brochures to students, faculty, and administrative staff.
