The Museum of Arts and Antiquities at Al-Qadisiyah University held a scientific art workshop in cooperation with the Encyclopedic Memory Department of the Diwaniyah Governorate Office, entitled:<\/p>\n

The workshop is part of the joint work between Al-Qadisiyah University and the city’s governmental institutions, which emphasizes in its mission the necessity of communication and academic interaction between the governorate’s various formations and the university.<\/p>\n
The workshop included a discussion of the history of the establishment of the encyclopedic memory department in the governorate, its role in preserving and archiving the political and social history of Diwaniyah, its importance in supporting historians and researchers specializing in local history and the city’s heritage, and the importance of the relationship between the university and this department. It also addressed the history of the city of Diwaniyah and its ancient names, starting with the religious capital (Nippur) and passing through the names (Al-Hasakah, Al-Rumahiyyah, and Al-Lamlum, to the current name, Diwaniyah). It also addressed how the city coexisted with and confronted the previous Ottoman and British governments, and the significant role played by the tribal community, along with the clergy, in preserving the city. The museum’s role as a cultural center and destination is dedicated to preserving the historical heritage of Iraq and this town by preserving and archiving its illustrated history in one of its halls, known as the Hall of Illustrated Popular Heritage. The walls of the hall are dedicated to photographs of the city’s leaders and thinkers, in addition to traditional military and household tools, which remind us of the importance of preserving the country’s identity and history for future generations. The workshop concluded with the lecturers being honored with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their efforts in providing educational institutions with such awareness-raising activities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
