Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Ali Hassan Ali Murad, the College of Dentistry held an anti-drug awareness festival under the slogan “Towards an Aware and Educated Society” and titled “The Role of the Family and Community in Combating Drugs.”<\/p>\n

The festival opened with verses from the Holy Quran and the recitation of Surat Al-Fatihah in memory of the martyrs. The national anthem was then played, followed by other festival segments.<\/p>\n

The first theme, “Drugs: Hidden Terrorism: An Analytical Study of Causes, Motives, and Treatment,” was presented by Lieutenant Colonel Abbas Bardan from the Community Police. He highlighted the most important reasons individuals resort to drug use, how it constitutes hidden terrorism, and highlighted the efforts made by the Community Police for the benefit of society.<\/p>\n

The second theme focused on “The Phenomenon of “Drug Abuse and Its Negative Effects on Youth,” presented by Major Hassan Mahmoud Shaker from the Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances in Diwaniyah, who highlighted the dangers facing youth and the consequences of these substances.<\/p>\n

The third theme, “Psychotropic Substances and Society,” was presented by Professor Amjad Hamid Hamidi, an associate at Diwaniyah Teaching Hospital. He highlighted the percentage of daily statistics recorded by the Health Department due to the consequences of drug use and the chronic diseases it causes.<\/p>\n

The goal of the festival is to highlight the importance of educating our students about the dangers of the scourge of drugs, explaining the risks it poses to individual and societal health, the profound impact it has on the value and moral system, and the subsequent waste of human resources, dragging users into the abyss of decadence and crime, as well as the waste of economic resources resulting from the use and trafficking of this poison.
