As part of the program to develop graduate students’ skills in the research phase, the College of Law at Al-Qadisiyah University organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled “How to Deal with Foreign Sources in Comparative Legal Research.” Professor Dr. Baida Ali Wali lectured and the workshop was moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hamza Jabr.<\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to enhance graduate students’ skills in using and analyzing foreign sources in comparative legal research. It also introduced students to methods for accessing reliable foreign sources, particularly academic journals and internationally recognized legal references. It also clarified scientific methods for quoting and correct documentation when using foreign sources in legal studies. It also enabled researchers to accurately compare local and foreign legal systems in a systematic manner.<\/p>\n

Main Conclusions: The workshop concluded that dealing with foreign sources is a fundamental pillar of comparative legal research and provides researchers with a broader ability to understand legal issues. There is also an urgent need to develop legal translation skills among graduate students to ensure accurate understanding and quotation.<\/p>\n

The workshop recommended the inclusion of specialized training modules on the use of foreign sources. Foreign sources are included in graduate studies curricula, academic partnerships are activated with international universities and libraries to facilitate researchers’ access to legal references, a guide is created for documentation and certified legal translation in academic institutions, and recurring workshops are held to develop researchers’ legal translation and comparative citation skills.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
