The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Al-Qadisiyah University held an awareness workshop entitled “The Role of Sports in Combating Terrorism and Extremist Ideas Among Youth,” presented by Prof. Riyad Juma Hassan. The workshop addressed the role of sports in combating intellectual extremism. It plays a vital role in combating intellectual extremism among youth through several mechanisms that contribute to building balanced and socially integrated personalities. Among the most prominent aspects that illustrate this role are the promotion of positive values. Sports foster values \u200b\u200bsuch as cooperation, discipline, respect, and tolerance, which are considered counter to extremist ideas that rely on violence and intolerance. Participation in sports teams teaches youth to respect others, regardless of cultural or religious backgrounds, and to spend their free time in a positive way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
