Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Kadhim Jabr Al-Jubouri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Hayawi Waheed Attia Al-Juthari, Dean of the College of Agriculture, the College of Agriculture held a scientific course entitled “Field Guide for Protecting Solanaceae Plants from Fungal and Insect Pests Using Non-Chemical Methods.” The course was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shamkhi Jabbar, Asst. Dr. Ali Ahmed Wahid, and Asst. Dr. Hussam Majeed Kazim. The most important conclusions are that good agricultural practices, such as selecting healthy seedlings, crop rotation, appropriate irrigation and fertilization, removing infected plant residues, and biological control, use natural enemies of pests (such as predators and parasites), and physical and mechanical control, such as using traps, manually removing infected plant parts, and using barriers. The most important recommendations are to use resistant varieties and cultivate varieties of Solanaceae plants that have natural resistance to some pests and diseases.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
