The Department of Chemical Engineering at the College of Engineering at Al-Qadisiyah University organized a scientific trip to the Union Company sugar refining factory in Babylon Governorate, in coordination with the Student Activities Division at the college and accompanied by the department professors Dr. Haidar Alaa, M. M. Noor Kifah, and M. M. Ahmed Wameed.

The aim of the visit was to observe the production stages and the chemical processes taking place during those stages, as well as the operational units used in the production processes. The students also learned about the control and monitoring unit, which allows for the management of the chemical processes and reactions accompanying production.

The visit included a reception of the students by the engineer responsible for training at the factory, where a lecture was given in the training hall. The lecture included an introduction to the factory in terms of production capacity, the technology used in manufacturing, and the types of raw materials used in sugar production. It also covered safety and security precautions and the hazards associated with the work. After the lecture, a tour of the factory was conducted, allowing the students to learn about the production processes from the beginning to the final product.
