Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Kazem Jaber Al-Jubouri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Nabeel Imran Al-Khalidi, Dean of the College of Arts, the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Geography Department, held a scientific seminar titled (The Industry of Waste Recycling: Machines and Equipment with Free Raw Materials) presented by Prof. Dr. Rahman Rabat Hussein.

The seminar aimed to highlight the importance of waste recycling, which varies in size spatially and temporally from one area to another within the region, according to population numbers and their living and social standards, as well as the varying economic level of the state. Solid waste poses an environmental problem in its own right as it leads to environmental pollution if not recycled and utilized instead of being randomly disposed of, as is currently happening where garbage is thrown on the sides of main and secondary roads, as well as in agricultural lands, or transferred to a public landfill to be collected and then buried without treatment. Some countries have resorted to using modern technological methods to benefit from solid waste, thus making it essential to achieve the dimensions of sustainable development in the field of solid waste recycling and to shed light on the accumulation of this solid waste in the environment and society.
