Published by Dr. Zulfiqar Salem Hussein, a lecturer in the Department of Roads and Transportation Engineering at the College of Engineering, Al-Qadisiyah University, co-authored a research paper with PhD student Saif Salem Ibrahim Al-Zamili and Professor Dr. Andrian Sergeevich Batugin of the Department of Mining Safety and Environment at the Mining Institute of the National University of Science and Technology (MISIS) in Moscow. The paper, titled “Developing a Model for Evaluating Geological Characteristics to Ensure Environmental Safety in Natural and Technogenetic Geodynamic Parks,” was published in the prestigious international journal Mining, published by MDPI. The study aimed to address the methodological gap in traditional geological and mining site evaluation models by developing a modified geo-environmental assessment model (GAM_GES). This model integrates geo-environmental safety computational blocks as a mathematical discount factor that measures the risks of surface geodynamic deformations, mining seismic activity, methane emissions and leakage, hydrogeological pollution, and tailings instability. It is worth noting that Mining is a Q1 journal indexed in Scopus with a CiteScore of 4.5 and is also indexed in Clarivate. Analytics with an Impact Factor of 2.9
