A workshop was held at the College of Dentistry, Al-Qadisiyah University, on managing hypertensive patients in dental clinics

The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Dentistry, Al-Qadisiyah University, organized an awareness workshop entitled “Managing Hypertensive Patients in Dental Clinics.” The workshop was presented by dental trainees Anwar Ibrahim Faisal and Adhraa Shaker Khouzan. The workshop aimed to introduce specific protocols for managing hypertensive patients in dental clinics to preserve patient life and prevent serious medical complications that could threaten patient safety during or after dental treatment. This includes preventing sudden cardiovascular events, controlling bleeding, ensuring safe surgery, providing a comfortable and pain-free treatment environment, and protecting patients from sudden fainting due to blood pressure medications. The workshop concluded with several recommendations, including adhering to international best practices in dental clinics to ensure the safety of hypertensive patients. These practices emphasize a protocol based on blood pressure readings and focus on the specific recommendations for local anesthesia.
