As part of Al-Qadisiyah University’s efforts to promote sustainability practices, enhance energy management efficiency, and reduce emissions, the university’s Energy ISO Team held its second periodic meeting. The meeting was chaired by Professor Abbas Sabbar, Director of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department, and attended by all team members and a representative from Diwaniyah Governorate.
The meeting addressed several topics related to the national initiative to support energy, reduce emissions, and address climate change. This policy aims to establish an effective institutional approach to energy management, improve efficiency, and reduce environmental emissions.
During the meeting, the team leader emphasized the importance of documenting achievements and implemented projects and incorporating them into the university’s work plan. This reflects the university’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly initiatives related to clean energy, climate action, and environmental sustainability.
The meeting also reviewed several initiatives the university has begun implementing, most notably the installation of solar panel systems in a number of its colleges and the expansion of environmentally friendly solutions and technologies on campus.
In a related context, the head and members of the ISO Energy team conducted a field visit to observe the electric vehicle initiative at Al-Qadisiyah University. This initiative is considered a practical step aimed at supporting the transition to more sustainable transportation, conserving energy, and reducing emissions from traditional transportation methods on campus.
These steps are part of Al-Qadisiyah University’s commitment to translating sustainability and energy management concepts into measurable and documentable practices and projects. This also enhances the university’s readiness to implement international energy management standards, supporting its commitment to environmental protection and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
