For the first time in Iraq, a research team at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Al-Qadisiyah University, led by Professor Dr. Nafie Sabih Jassim and Master’s student Asmaa Abdul Hussein, has succeeded in producing a new vaccine against Newcastle disease. This vaccine is based on mRNA technology, the same technology used in some COVID-19 vaccines. The research was published in the Q3 (Quarter 3) of the Open Veterinary Journal, a prestigious journal indexed in Scopus.
The research aimed to develop a new mRNA vaccine and improve its efficacy using a nanomaterial called DHM-NP. The researchers found that the mRNA vaccine coated with DHM-NP nanoparticles provides very strong protection against Newcastle disease in chickens and may be a promising alternative to traditional vaccines in the future.
